The whole journey at a glance

Phase 1

Get started

💸
Get paid in minutes.
Nigeria's simplest way to send and accept money — no card numbers, no stress.
  • Scan a QR code to pay any vendor
  • Get an instant alert the moment you're paid
  • Withdraw to any Nigerian bank account

Welcome screen

Open the app & tap “Get started”

The first screen sells the promise in one line. New users tap the big green button; returning users tap “Log in”.

  • Tap Get started to begin a new account.
  • Already registered? Tap Log in instead.
Agent tip: This is your pitch line — “get paid in minutes”. Start every demo here.
How will you use ThynkPay?
This helps us tailor your experience. You can do both later.

1 Step 1 · Role

Choose how you’ll use it

Pick the option that fits best. A merchant selling goods picks the first; a regular user picks the second.

  • Merchant / vendor → tap Accept payments.
  • Everyday user → tap Send & receive.
  • If a ThynkPay agent gave you a referral code (something like AG-4B2K7), type it in the box below the role cards. Leave it blank if you signed up on your own.
  • Tap Continue.
Tip: There’s no wrong answer — everyone can send and receive. This just tailors the welcome. The referral code is only there so your ThynkPay agent gets credit for onboarding you — it doesn’t change anything about your account.
Phase 2

Verify your phone

What’s your phone number?
We’ll text you a 6-digit code to confirm it’s yours. This is how you sign in and how we keep your account secure.

2 Step 2 · Phone

Enter your phone number

Use a number you have with you right now — the confirmation code is coming by SMS in seconds.

  • Type the number (with or without the leading 0 — the app adds +234).
  • Tap Continue.
Tip: Must be a Nigerian mobile number starting 7, 8 or 9. Double-check it — the code goes here.

3 Step 3 · Verify

Type the SMS code

Read the 6-digit code from the text message and enter it. It submits by itself once all six digits are in.

  • Enter the 6-digit code from the SMS.
  • No code after ~30 seconds? Tap Resend code.
Important: This code creates the account — and it’s the same way they’ll sign in later. Keep it private.
Phase 3

Your details

What’s your name?
Enter it exactly as it appears on your BVN — we’ll verify it in a moment.

Continue
4 Step 4 · Name

Enter your name

Type the first and last name exactly as they appear on the BVN — this gets checked at the last step.

  • Fill in First name and Last name.
  • Tap Continue.
Agent tip: Spelling matters. If it doesn’t match the BVN exactly, the account still opens — but it will use the BVN’s official name.
When were you born?
This must match your BVN records. Just type the numbers — we add the dashes.
27-04-2000DD-MM-YYYY
Continue
5 Step 5 · Birthday

Enter your date of birth

Just type the numbers — the app adds the dashes automatically in DD-MM-YYYY order.

  • Type day, month, year.
  • Tap Continue.
Tip: Must match the date of birth on the BVN, or verification will fail at the end.
Phase 4

Secure your account

Create your PIN
Pick 6 digits you’ll remember.
Your PIN protects your money — you’ll use it to sign in and approve every payment. Keep it secret. ThynkPay staff will never ask for it.
6 Step 6 · PIN

Create a 6-digit PIN

Choose a 6-digit PIN, then type it again to confirm. There’s no button — it moves on once six digits are in.

  • Enter a 6-digit PIN.
  • Enter the same 6 digits again to confirm.
Important: No easy PINs — not 123456, 654321, or all-same digits. This PIN approves every payment, so it must be private.
Add a recovery email
Add a backup email so you can reset your PIN if you ever forget it.
you@email.com
Send code
I’ll do this later
7 Step 7 · Recovery Optional

Add a recovery email

Enter an email and confirm it with a code — so a forgotten PIN can be reset without calling support. This is the only step you can skip.

  • Type an email → tap Send code.
  • Enter the 6-digit email code → tap Confirm email.
  • In a hurry? Tap I’ll do this later.
Heads up: This email code is different from the SMS code in Step 3 — it comes to the inbox, not the phone. Strongly recommend adding it.
Phase 5

Go live

Enter your BVN
Last step — enter your BVN and we’ll open your wallet instantly.
2 2 1 3 4 •••••
Nigerian law (CBN) requires your BVN to open any account that can hold money. We use it only to confirm it’s really you — we can never see your other banks or balances.
Verify & create account
Don’t know your BVN? Tap here
8 Step 8 · BVN

Enter BVN to open the wallet

The final step. Enter the 11-digit BVN and tap verify — this is where the wallet and account number are actually created.

  • Enter the 11-digit BVN.
  • Tap Verify & create account.
  • Don’t know it? Dial *565*0# free on the bank’s registered line.
Reassure the user: BVN is required by CBN law. ThynkPay only confirms identity — it cannot see other bank accounts, balances, or transactions.

Key things to remember

The six points every agent should be able to explain in their own words.

🔢
Two different codes

The SMS code (Step 3) creates the account & is the login. The email code (Step 7) is only for resetting a forgotten PIN. Don’t mix them up.

🪪
Name & birthday must match BVN

If they don’t match exactly, the account still opens — but it quietly adopts the official BVN name. Set that expectation upfront.

⏭️
Only recovery email is skippable

Every other step is required. Skipping the email just means no self-serve PIN reset later — encourage adding it.

🏦
The wallet appears at the very end

The account number only exists after the BVN step — not after the SMS code. Don’t promise a wallet before Step 8.

🔒
Never share the PIN

The PIN approves every payment. ThynkPay staff and agents must never ask for it. No sequences or repeated digits allowed.

↩️
You can pause and resume

If the app is closed mid-signup (after the SMS code), it reopens on the exact step the user left off — no need to start over.
